A Sweet Life

This boxed set from romance and women’s fiction bestsellers is only available for one month and has its own sweet story.

Every year, Brenda Novack helps raise funds for diabetes research. And this year the bestseller turned her attention to the boxed set phenomenon. It’s a treat for fans that’s sweet on your wallet and for a terrific cause. We asked Brenda to tell us more about the story behind this collection:

“I was so excited when I reached out to the other authors in A SWEET LIFE to see if they would be willing to join with me in creating a limited edition boxed set we could sell to raise money for diabetes research. They were all so generous and supportive–I think every single one got back to me right away, including the generous Debbie Macomber, who took time out of her busy schedule to write the foreword. In order for three of us to participate, we needed Harlequin’s permission, which felt like a long shot at first. They had no real incentive to do something so far out of their daily routine. But they were as gracious as the authors in their reply and have helped make this endeavor happen.

When my son was diagnosed with diabetes at only five years old, I knew I had to do more than watch what he ate. There are too many people suffering from this disease. Recent statistics indicate that by the year 2050, 1 in 3 Americans will have diabetes. That’s just not acceptable. We can beat this disease if we fight hard enough, and I am so grateful to the romance community for helping me to at least stage a battle. They’ve done so much to make my annual online auctions (which run May 1 – May 31st at http://brendanovak.auctionanything.com) a success–and now they have helped me add this limited boxed set to our efforts.
