1. Your best virtue as an author.

I hope it’s writing stories that readers love and characters that resonate long after the story ends.

  2. Your most quirky author habit.

I love revising a book as I write. Instead of shying away from the challenge, I love digging in.

3. Your favorite quality in a protagonist.

Their ability to love and to admit when they are wrong. I’m not big on writing arguments for the sake of conflict. My characters need to be real.

4. Your favorite quality in an antagonist.

A little bit of over-the-top Machiavellian meanness. Why make a villain if they aren’t mean!

5. If you could ask any other author, past or present, a question who would it be and what would you ask.

LaVyrle Spencer – Why did you stop writing and did you miss it when you retired?

6. When you aren’t writing, you are____

Still working! Plotting. Promotion on social media and talking online to other authors and readers.

7. Your easiest book to write.

Fearless. My newest release wrote itself. I call it my “gift” book because none are that easy.

8. Your hardest book to write.

Usually the one I’m currently writing, which right now would be Breathe. The beginnings of every book are usually a struggle. The ends fly.

9. Your ideal writing place.

To the chagrin of my physical therapists, I write in my bed on my laptop and I love it 🙂

10. Your favorite childhood book.

Hmm… More my favorite book I loved to read to my children – Good Night Moon. As a reader, The Velveteen Rabbit.

11. The book you’ve re-read the most.

LaVyrle Spencer’s Separate Beds.

12. Your favorite literary hero.

I read so many books and fall in love with the characters as I read. I can’t pick just one!

13. Your favorite literary villain.

I’m a romance girl through and through. Conflict, not villains.

14. The name of your autobiography.

She Never Learned to Stop Trying.

15. You favorite comfort food.

Pizza and chocolate… But not together!

16. First thing you do when you finish writing a novel.

When I finish writing a novel, my brain usually feels freed up to think about what’s next. I force myself to focus on writing one book at a time so when I type The End, I feel that rush to start all over again!

17. A secret talent you have.

Speed reader! Drives people crazy how fast I can read a book.

18. Where have you always wanted to travel?

I’m not a big travel person, but I’d have to say Israel.

19. One tip for aspiring authors.

Never give up and keep writing (different books). Don’t beat up the same book forever. It’ll get you nowhere fast. You grow with every new book you write.

20. Puppies or kittens?

Puppies, puppies, and more puppies!!
