My writing journey:
Writing came later in my life. I was forty-three years old and a dental hygienist in 2009 when I first began to write. Our two oldest children were in college, our youngest is special needs, and my husband went to work one day to find he was let go. That same day he applied and received a job working nights at a big box store so we would have health insurance for our youngest.
While our older children were home, our house was constantly buzzing with teenagers coming and going. Suddenly, it was our youngest son and me alone each night, and he went to bed early. With my husband working nights, I was all alone. My daughter said I was unable to control my own world, so I wrote a story controlling Claire’s world.
Claire’s story became CONSEQUENCES. Never in a million years did I expect that my work would grace millions of e-readers and be translated into several languages!
CONSEQUENCES was first released in August of 2011 through a vanity publisher. Then, a year later, I took back my rights and self-published CONSEQUENCES and the second book in the series, TRUTH. With book three in the series, CONVICTED, I hit the New York Times and USA Today bestseller lists.
In 2013 I left the dental world to be a full-time author. Today, my husband of nearly forty years and I work side by side, writing and publishing my books.
A light in the dark:
Until recently, I was a hybrid author, meaning as well as my self-published books, I had two books through a publisher, Thomas and Mercer. Unfortunately, the publisher was exclusive to one sales platform. But, as of this past April, I received my rights back to my romantic cult thriller duet. Now, I have released the duet as one book, LIGHT DARK.
I am so excited to have LIGHT DARK now available to my Barnes and Noble readers in both print and e-book! This intriguing story received Goodreads Choice Award nominee for best mystery and thriller in 2016. I know the story will resonate with fans of emotional, twisting suspense.
Today, I have nearly sixty titles to my name. My brand is ‘Aleatha Romig’ as I write everything from dark romance to light romance to romantic thrillers. I write stories that I enjoy, hopeful that others will too.
It has been a crazy wonderful journey. I can never thank the readers enough for giving me a chance to live my dream.
Finding my Readers:
Barnes and Noble Press is an integral part of my writing success. My first e-reader was a NOOK. I’ll never forget the first time I finished a book after ten o’clock at night and was able to purchase the next book immediately. No waiting for the bookstore the next day. I was hooked on e-reading. (Though, I still love the feel and smell of a book ;))
Several of my novels have been named to their “Top Indie Favorites” list, including my upcoming release, the third book of my new Brutal Vows series, BOUND BY A PROMISE. This Mafia/cartel arranged marriage series features a different couple in each novel all within the same interconnected world.
Throughout the years, Barnes and Noble has included my titles in many of their various promotional opportunities, a great avenue to help readers find new favorite authors. Their dedication to indie authors has been instrumental not only in my journey but in the lives of so many other authors. Recently, I attended a store signing at a Barnes and Noble in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. It’s always a joy to get to talk with readers in person.
