1.Your best virtue as an author.

The ability to set goals and achieve them

2. Your most quirky author habit.

If I’m listening to music as I write, my fingers tap on the keyboard in time to the song. 🙂

3. Your favorite quality in a protagonist.

Unconditional love. The ability to love someone as they are, to support and care for them, regardless of what they have done, is a wonderful gift.

4. Your favorite quality in an antagonist.

Vulnerability. Everyone has something they hide from the world. Finding an antagonist’s soft spot, showing glimpses of their vulnerability, creates emotional connections between the characters and the reader.

5. If you could ask any other author, past or present, a question who would it be and what would you ask?

My question would be for Dolly Parton. Not only is she a wonderful singer/songwriter, she has also written some amazing children’s stories. My question for Dolly would be, “How has writing transformed your life?”

6. When you aren’t writing, you are____

Walking our dog and binge-watching Netflix series.

7. Your easiest book to write.

Forever Santa because it was the story of Gracie and Trent, 18 months after my readers first met them in Forever Dreams. I knew their lives, their hopes, and their dreams, and the story flowed onto the page.

8. Your hardest book to write.

Forever Together. In this book, the heroine, Kate, travels to Montana to be a bone marrow donor for a sister she’s never met. My own sister died a couple of years before I wrote Forever Together. Some of the scenes brought back memories of Erin and the things she said to me before she died. After I finished the book, I felt a deep sense of peace and untold gratitude for having such a wonderful sister.

9. Your ideal writing place.

Anywhere that has a wonderful view of the ocean.

10. Your favorite childhood book.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle.

11. The book you’ve reread the most.

Wedding the Highlander by Janet Chapman. I am in awe of Janet’s ability to bring to life giant Scotsmen with hearts as big and strong as the they are.

12. Your favorite hero from literature.

Anne Shirley from Anne of Green Gables. Why? Because she is courageous, impulsive, and has red hair!

13. Your favorite villain from literature.

The scariest villain who gave me lots of sleepless nights is Margaret White from Stephen King’s book, Carrie. Just thinking about her gives me cold shivers.

14. The name of your autobiography.

It’s a wonderful life.

15. Your favorite comfort food.

Mom’s hot vegetable soup with thick slices of toast dripping with butter.

16. First thing you do when you finish writing a novel.

Breath a sigh of relief and start editing!

17. A secret talent you have.

I love cross-stitch. Before I started writing, I spent a lot of time stitching beautiful designs.

18. Where have you always wanted to travel?

To Vatican City. I’d ask the Pope if he’d like to have lunch with me, then spend a few days exploring the archives and finding undiscovered mysteries.

19. One tip for aspiring authors.

I couldn’t stop at one so I hope this helps anyone reading this blog! Think about why you are writing. Your answer will guide each step of your writing journey. Create achievable goals, celebrate your successes, and listen to the advice of people you admire and who have achieved what you want to do. But most of all, have fun.

20. Puppies or kittens?

As a first-time dog owner, definitely puppies!!!
